Designing and implementing research that is commercially relevant and scientifically rigorous is a key obstacle to scaling the broader use of biochar.
Academic-led research is often scientifically diligent, but not directly connected to the commercial realities of the biochar sector and end users like farmers, stormwater engineers, and concrete companies. On the other hand, practitioner and biochar industry-led research is often not empirically sound enough to support broad deployment.
We work to bridge this gap by partnering with researchers and the biochar industry to steer research that is not only evidence-based but also meaningful from the business perspective.
We partner with university researchers to develop industry-relevant experimental designs, source commercially produced and compatible biochars, and then translate findings into actionable guidance for farmers and other end users. We also partner with biochar producers to support the development of precise experimental designs to further the development of effective products and uses.
