Biochar in Stormwater Best Management Practices: Guidebook for Stormwater Practitioners
We’re pleased to announce the release of a new free resource, created by the Center for Watershed Protection in partnership with the American Biochar Institute and Infinite Solutions.
This Guidebook is the first nationally applicable resource focused on incorporating biochar into stormwater Best Management Practices (BMPs).
The Guidebook for Stormwater Practitioners provides stormwater practitioners with resources and decision support tools for biochar material selection and biochar incorporation into eight common stormwater BMPs:
- bioretention with underdrains
- bioretention without underdrains
- vegetated swales
- filter strips and roadside embankments
- green roofs
- soil amendment
- dry ponds
- flow through media filters
The Stormwater BMP Resource resource also includes:
BMP Factsheets: Overviews of how biochar amendments may improve system performance and how to incorporate biochar
Specification Templates: Adaptable for use as specification in stormwater BMP designs using biochar
Technical Basis Report: Research and expert feedback supporting recommendations.
